Finding Your Perfect Kinetic Rod

Finding Your Perfect Kinetic Rod

When you first land on our Kinetic collection, you'll see that we have over 20 different options. There's a reason for that - but we want to break it down to help you find the best rod to meet your needs.

Understanding Rod Power

Ultra Light - For micro presentations and BFS techniques. Think 1/16 oz lures, trout fishing, and finesse bass work where you need maximum sensitivity.

Light - Steps up to small topwaters, jerkbaits, and light Texas rigs. Perfect for finesse presentations where you still need some backbone.

Medium Light - The sweet spot for most anglers. Handles everything from small crankbaits to medium jigs. Great all-around power rating.

Medium - Your workhorse power. Spinnerbaits, larger crankbaits, chatterbaits, and standard Texas rigs. Covers most bass fishing techniques.

Heavy - For power fishing. Big jigs, heavy cover, flipping and pitching. When you need to muscle fish out of thick stuff.

Rod Action Breakdown

Moderate-Fast bends deeper into the rod, giving you better casting distance and keeping treble hook baits pinned during the fight. Great for crankbaits, topwaters, and jerkbaits.

Fast action bends mostly in the tip, giving you maximum sensitivity and hookset power. Perfect for jigs, Texas rigs, and any single-hook presentation where you need to feel everything.

Spinning vs Casting - Pick Your Platform

Spinning rods excel with lighter lures and finesse techniques. The guides face down and handle light line better. Easier to cast and less prone to backlash.

Casting rods give you more accuracy and control. Guides face up, better for heavier lures and precision presentations. Takes more skill but offers better fish control.

Rod Length Impact

6'6" to 6'10" - Better for kayaks, tight spaces, and situations where you need maneuverability over casting distance.

7'0" - The goldilocks length. Good casting distance while maintaining control and accuracy.

7'3" to 7'6" - Maximum casting distance and leverage for fighting fish. Great for open water and power techniques.
