Finally had time to go fish. Paired it with Bates Salty. First fish caught was a 43" Bull red. Handled it like a champ.
This is a beautiful rod with a super comfortable rod butt. Just long enough to fit under my arm without being too long or too short. I was a little concerned with it being a medium heavy as all my other swimbait rods are heavy or x heavy. I threw up to a 5 oz. R2S tactical glide with no problem and I think that is pretty close to the max for weight rating. I also threw an 8 inch magdraft and the rod with a tranx 300 loaded nicely and launched it a mile. Build quality is really nice. If I didn't already have over 50 rod and reel setups, I may have bought a lot more from Old 18.
Bought this rod to use with A-Rigs. Will absolutely launch an A-Rig. The longer handle makes cast a heavy A-Rig super easy. The leverage you gain is awesome. Makes for a way less strenuous day casting heavy baits.
Be careful with this rod because it can spool your reel when you throw an A-rig! The power is unmatched by any other rod.
Commando - 7'0" Ultra Light BFS Casting Mod-Fast
I have several custom rods & multiple high end brands like Expride & Adrenas. These rods are just as good if not better. In my opinion the tips are a lil more sensitive than most especially when it comes to casting. My first fish caught on it was a 9.43lb largemouth & it really handled it well. I will definitely be purchasing more.
I wanna start my review by saying I have broken on of these before but it was completely my fault. Other than that it handles anything I throw at it. For an ultralight its gotta have one of the most robust back bones on the market. Ultra sensitive and responsive tip so you feel bites and can work your smallest lures no problem. Wouldn't be surprised if you could throw a fly on these things. Biggest fish on the ultralight was a 20-25lb koi caught and released i just under 20 minutes. Please only buy from these guys right here. Support local and veteran owned business. They deserve every bit of! And dont even get me started on their customer service!! Broke your rod? Email this amazing company and they will do everything they can to help you have a better day.
Bought my first one. Ordered 2 more! Awesome rods
I have a Boyance and the feel of the Commando is almost as good....the grip is not as comfortable, but for the price it's hard to beat
