Love everything about the Rod . And it glows purple !!!
Old 18 is a great company. Unfortunately, my rod was delivered broken. I emaild the company they sent me out a new rod. No questions asked. I have only used the rod once very light feels really good in the hand. Very happy to support a US company keep up the good work.
This is my first rod from Old 18. I don't think it will be the last. This is also my first BFS rod, and it fits the bill quite nicely. I have a Diawa Alphas Air on the road and that light reel balances great on this rod. Rod is really light weight and is finished nicely. I have thrown a 3/32 hair jig on the rod and it handles the light weight with no problem. So far I have caught a catfish, drum, and a couple of smallmouth on the rod while throwing the hair jig. Rod handled the fish with no problem and light action makes the fight fun. For BFS fishing with this rod though, I would say, learn to tie a FG knot. The guides are small, but not micro. With 8lb braid and an 8lb leader connected with an Alberto knot the knot sometimes will catch just enough on a guide to cause a backlash on the BFS reel. This is a very nice rod though, and I look forward to using it for a long time.
