This rod I use for double duty whether I am throwing an alabama rig or I am flipping with it. This rod will easily handle a lighter alabama rig making it perfect to pair with their Traverse rod. I will have a lighter alabama rigged up on this one during the winter months for shallower drain or drop off. I also use this rod during the summer months or high water to flip deep into cover using a 3/4oz to 1oz flipping weight. It has the backbone to rip anything out of deep cover and will get you hooked on flipping whatever lure you love!
This is a great flipping rod. With the win-grip handles you’re able to transfer the power to the tip of the rod to bring in the biggest giants.
Awesome rod and built well one of many I have in these series Oh and I almost forgot their American made
This rod is definitely what you need for pulling the big ones out of the brush or around stumps. 100% would recommend it.
This is my third rod from Old 18. My first was the Ascent 7’3”MH and I was really impressed so I ended up getting the Medium and a Kinetic Ultralight casting rod as well. These are my go to now. Thinking of getting a suppressor next.
I paired with a Shimano slx bfs reel and it handles great. I’ve thrown down to 1/16th oz without issue. Biggest fish I’ve caught on it so far is a 2.5lb smallie but I’ve no doubt it’ll handle bigger fish just fine.
Rod purchased within the month, with a few casts made. Last Saturday the butt section fractured during an overhand cast with a 1/8 oz lipless crank.
The butt section is very small in diameter compared to the butt tapers for most casting rods. Submitted in the warranty support form for next steps. The workmanship and components are very nice, but can’t have this happen.
Used many overseas bfs rods currently but this rod handle salt water exceptionally well, from spotted bay bass, to surf perch and even some undersize halibuts. Lost some cudas in the bay but that was not the rod's fault(mostly line and me getting too excited), all and all I'd say this is my go to rod for everything bay and surf fishing now.
Great rod. Very sensitive & great feel
