Coastal Kayak Marsh Fishing

The Old 18 Ultra Light Kinetic gives great casting and sensitivity in marshes for redfish, trout and flounder. I prefer the Kinetic rod eyelets which are larger ( than Buoyancy) which has less friction for the braid to fluoro knot. The setup gives you fewer wind knots. The rod flexes for trout yet has backbone for over slot reds.

Not used it yet, too cold

The looks are a 4, there are some blemishes and separation on line wraps around a couple guides. The feel in the hand is a three, my thumb lands right on top of the bait keeper,I don’t like where the keeper is. It might be the reel seat but it just feels ok in then..
I can’t wait to get it them out on the water.

I will buy more old 18 rods, I am a marine so it would be cool to see something in red and gold D3vil dog or something.

Used both rods just last week. Love the weight. I was surprised that they didn’t come with rod covers like my first one did.

What's Not To Love

This is number 15 of my Old 18 Rod collection and will be paired with a Bates Hundo LTS 100 size casting reel for BFS efforts. My collection contains both casting and spinning including the Buoyancy, Suppressor and Kinetic series used in both fresh and saltwater with premium reels by Bates, Diawa and Shimano perfectly matched and paired with each rod. As a veteran myself, I support veterans and especially veteran owned small businesses. All of the Old 18 rods are beautifully built and fish as they are described.
