I finally had a chance to use this rod today. After dragging lures through some weeds, it is easy to tell the difference between a light bite VS snagging up on some weeds. I hate setting the hook on salad. Love the rod. It brought in seven decent northern pike today.
Ive been an Old 18 advocate for a couple of years now and with each rod, the quality never fails to excite me! Although, I already own the exact same rod, I couldn't wait to get on the water and throw the new one. Once again, the sensitivity, the balance and just the way the rod feels in my hands could not be improved upon. Sure, I may be able to spend several hundred more dollars and gain a small degree of increased sensitivity but in my book and for my money, you can not get a better value and more bang for your buck than the Suppressor series of rods.
This is my first Old 18 rod but, it won't be my last. I tail hooked a 5+ foot alligator gar in the marsh kayak fishing, TAIL HOOKED! After about 20 minutes of fight I got it to the kayak grabbed my jig and got it out of her tail. The rod performed flawlessly! Solid spine yet the tip let me feel everything the fish was doing. Thanks Old 18 for making outstanding fishing rods!
This what I use to skip frogs into the brush. It also has the power to drag out the biggins! Always on my deck!
Hands down one of the best rods I've ever used. The sensitivity is incredible and the rod is super lightweight. I'm not worried about fatigue at the end of the day. Given it's size and action, you're able to fish a variety of different lures and techniques with it. It's that MUST HAVE rod for me!
